Restoration and Repair
A
variety of repair and restoration tasks are carried out in the workshop
ranging from the most up to date electric guitar set ups to complex
antique instrument restorations. Customers have sent
instruments from different parts of the world although the majority of
this work comes from local commissions. At present I am
luthier in residence at The Reel; the music teaching centre owned and
run by trad duo The Wrigley Sisters in Kirkwall, Orkney.
A recent commission was to restore, to playing condition, the violin owned by famous arctic explorer Dr John Rae. This, along with a "tin fiddle" also restored here, was played in two special concerts by internationally celebrated traditional fiddler Jennifer Wrigley.
